What's the idea?

Noah's Ark is all about creative freedom and making the things we want to make, with as few requirements and stipulations and guardrails as possible for the artists. Of course, there's a theme to each book, but other than that, I always try to create a "draw for yourself first" environment. I don't want to see people draw something for me, I want to see them draw something they wanted to draw.

The first Noah's Ark was so long ago, I can hardly remember... (it was literally 5 years ago, why are you talking like you're 80) I hit up all my friends like, "hey let's make a book," and some of them thought it was a cool idea, so we made it happen. Then at the end, we were all very pleased to find that people were willing to pay money to look at it. To be honest, it kind of feels like that every time for me. Obviously I think we make the coolest things ever, but it's like, "oh, all you other people also think this is cool too?" That's awesome.

NA has grown a bit since then. I never thought we would have such a big audience! But for the most part I'm just the catalyst. It's only as successful as it is now because of all the artists who've brought their fans on board. Every time I invite new artists to Noah's projects, I'm thinking, "surely they're gonna say no but yolo" and that's how I've gotten to work with some of the most talented sons of bitches on the planet.

I didn't really know what to write here at first but I ended up rambling a lot, haha. I think the message I want to convey is that you can just do things if you want to. Make it happen!

Who's behind it all?

Hi, my name is ray. I'm a hobby artist who likes organising anthologies. These days, I'm pretty much just drawing my OCs and organising anthologies. Actually, I think I'm like, addicted to it... It's a disease and I'm fucking SICK.

I also run fandom zines that aren't affiliated with Noah's Ark here and there. But Noah's is really special to me because I'm most interested in the original stories people want to tell. Like, I want a taste of their pure essence straight from the tap, you know? lol. I just love art and want to help promote and support the creation of original works. I feel super super lucky that I get to collab with a bunch of my friends and my favourite artists to put these books together! Thanks for believing in me and agreeing to be part of them!

I keep thinking it would be really cool to formally start a publishing house. Maybe some time in the future when I can finance it. In the meantime, I'll just keep doing this. Thank you everyone for supporting our projects over all these years!
